Inside and above Victoria Falls

We hired a guide to take down into the falls today. You can do it without a guide, but it is nice to hear the legends and background. This is a sacred place for the Africans.

Diane with our new best friend Keddy. Rainbows are everywhere.

My sweetie. It is so hard to capture the scale of the falls. You really need to be here to appreciate it.

The falls is 1.7 km wide and 100 meters high. We can only show you little snippets.

This is the bridge joining Zambia and Zimbabwe. There is a border crossing right in the center of it. And people bungie jump from there. Maybe next time I'll try that :)

A little foot bridge, at this point it is like someone is just spraying us with a hose. These pictures are being taken with our little waterproof camera.

The is the best shot we got from down inside the falls. You at least get some sense of it.

Our guide again, notice how we are now wearing ponchos. But try as I might to prevent it the lens got sprayed pretty well. And I had no way of cleaning it.

A view from the top of the falls. It is known as the "smoke that thunders". You can see why.

We thought maybe if we got above it, we could get a better sense of scale. So, off to the helipad.

From a 1000 feet up, it is still hard to capture.

But, you get the idea (1.7 km across).

The day is done, the sun is going down and the animals come out to play. Too dark to capture the stripes on this zebra.

Nice art shot of an impala.
